Laura Siegel received her master’s degree in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication from James Madison University in 2021, with a concentration in Health and Scientific Communication. Her professional interests include supporting her local ag. community, increasing public health literacy, and decreasing the stigmas surrounding mental health disorders and substance use disorders. She is the Health Communications Officer for AgriSafe Network – in this position, Laura develops and edits a broad range of digital and print content for AgriSafe’s programming and resources. A substantial portion of her work centers on outreach and collaboration for agricultural mental health and natural disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. She is a certified QPR Instructor, providing trainings in “QPR for Agricultural Communities,” which is a suicide prevention training for laypeople, and “Cultivating a Healthy Mind,” which is an Invest in Your Health training for ag educators and youth / young farmers.
