Health Spotlight: Long COVID

There is no question – COVID-19 has impacted healthcare delivery and education on many levels. Rural healthcare providers can attest to the impact on individual care and community responses. Check out Hale et al.’s (2022) article, “The implications of long COVID for rural communities” in the Journal of Rural Health

Research is indicating short- and long-term changes in cognitive function and the impact on heart and lung health. The American Nurses Association is addressing these concerns and shares information on disability issues.

When patients, clients, or co-workers share concerns related to shortness of breath, rapid pulse rates, dizziness, fatigue, or “brain fog”, a deeper investigation and questions about COVID-19 history are in order. These symptoms can have a significant effect on the ability to work and safety in the agricultural work environment.
