White Paper: A Discussion After AgriSafe’s Natural Disaster Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Think Tank from September 2025

This White Paper discusses the results of the Natural Disaster Preparedness, Response, and Recovery Think Tank hosted by AgriSafe in September 2025 during National Farm Safetand Health Week. Key gaps are identified in the mental and public health response for agricultural and rural communities after natural disasters. Proposed solutions include crucial public health education and outreach before natural disasters occur, including trainings such as Mental Health First Aid and Psychological First Aid within agricultural communities. Local organizations, extension offices, and first responders are encouraged to take advantage of available tools to identify, support, and connect those affected before, during, and after a disaster.
