Preventing Zoonosis Learning Module

Purpose of this Module

This e-learning module is designed for students to teach them about zoonotic disease with a specific focus in agriculture. This module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. For instructions and more information, scroll past the module.

Instructions

To begin, click the play button in the center of the module. The audio will auto-play throughout the module, and headphones are recommended. Use the arrows that appear in the bottom right of the module to advance through the course. Click on “CC” toward the bottom right of the module to turn on closed captions. You will be able to print a completion certificate for your records at the end of this training. Do not refresh your browser window, or leave this tab; doing so will restart the module.

Technical Requirements

We recommend using Google Chrome as your browser. For this module to operate properly, your system must be running on: Windows 7 or later, Mac OS X 10.9 or later, Chrome 60 or greater, Firefox 52 or greater, Edge 14 or greater, Safari 10 or greater, iOS 10 or greater, Internet Explorer 11.

Data Collection

We do not collect information about who accesses this training module, aside from the external survey toward the end of the module. Any data we collect will be used solely for internal reporting or grant reporting directly to CHS, the funder of this content. We do not collect data from anyone 13 years old or younger, in compliance with COPPA.

Module Overview

This lesson contains five sections:

  • Section 3: Zoonotic Diseases 
  • Section 4: Prevention 
  • Section 5: Quiz, Survey, and Certificate 

You will be required to answer questions and must interact with the module in order to advance through the content. You are not able to skip forward or backward, but you may repeat content once it has been completed.

Learning Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to: 

  • Define “zoonotic disease” and identify various modes of transmission. 
  • Discuss warning signs and symptoms of major zoonotic diseases. 
  • Identify zoonotic diseases affecting the production agricultural population.

If you are an educator, then this module is the perfect tool to assign your students to complete. Preventing Zoonosis is one of the seven Invest in Your Health  lessons we have created for agricultural educators to use for free to enhance their curriculums. You can assign your students to take this interactive module either in class or as homework. We have created an activity guidebook for you to pick and choose from to follow-up with your students after they take the module.
