AgriSafe Rural and Underserved Physician Scholar Program

OVERVIEW

Launching in November 2026, the AgriSafe Rural and Underserved Physician Scholar Program features in-depth, on-demand virtual webinars led by experts in agricultural safety and health. These trainings are designed to help physicians and faculty build the knowledge and competencies needed to provide high-quality care for agricultural workers and their families.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After completing the trainings, physicians and faculty will be able to:

• Recognize the specific health and safety hazards that agricultural workers and patients may face, including exposure to chemicals, machinery, zoonotic diseases, heat stress, and musculoskeletal injuries
• Improve communication when interacting with patients who work in agriculture
• Recognize and address mental health challenges common in agricultural communities
• Know strategies to educate patients and their families about health, safety, and preventive practices in agriculture
