SUMMARY:Ergonomic Safety for Farm Women
DESCRIPTION:Last updated on February 27th\, 2024 at 06:22 pm It is no secret – women are playing an increased role in production agriculture. They account for about one-third of the management\, ownership and work on farms\, ranches and in crop production. A major challenge continues to be access to protective equipment that meets the ergonomic needs of women. This program is intended to help women in rural/agricultural communities identify ergonomic issues leading to musculoskeletal injuries in farm and ranch work and discover resources to aid in injury prevention. \nAt the end of the presentation\, participants will be able to: \n1. Identify work site hazards and potential musculoskeletal injuries. \n2. Identify wellness initiatives aimed at reducing risks related to musculoskeletal injuries. \n3. Locate three current evidenced based resources in the field of agricultural health and safety that address ergonomic safety. \n4. Utilize the individual AgHRA to look at current exposures and preventive methods for daily farm tasks. \n  \nLast updated on February 27th\, 2024 at 06:22 pm \n\nRegistration Instructions: \n\n\n\nIf you don’t already have a profile with AgriSafe\, please set up a free account. SUMMARY:Respiratory Protection Issues in Agriculture - What to Wear & Does It Fit?
DESCRIPTION:Last updated on February 27th\, 2024 at 06:22 pm \nThe business of agriculture presents a myriad of hazards\, including exposures to dusts\, molds\, pesticides and other chemicals\, gases\, as well as welding fumes and particles. Deciding what protection to use to prevent acute and chronic respiratory diseases is confusing. In addition\, just finding the right protective gear can be a challenge. This webinar will address those issues and provide information on the importance of fit testing and fit (seal)checks. \nIntended Audience: agricultural production workers\, including female workers\, and agricultural business managers \nAt the end of this webinar participants will be able to: \n1. Identify appropriate respiratory protection equipment for work in agriculture\n2. Understand the difference between a respirator fit test and a fit check (seal check) procedure.\n3. Determine who should be fit tested for respiratory personal protective equipment (PPE)\n4. Know who can perform a fit test and what tools are necessary for a fit test procedure\n5. Locate current reliable resources that provide information on respiratory PPE \n  \nLast updated on February 27th\, 2024 at 06:22 pm \n\nRegistration Instructions: \n\n\n\nIf you don’t already have a profile with AgriSafe\, please set up a free account. SUMMARY:Safe and Healthy Recovery After a Farm Flood
DESCRIPTION:Last updated on February 27th\, 2024 at 06:22 pm \nDisaster recovery can be as dangerous as the disaster itself\, especially if no disaster preparedness plan was implemented. This is especially true on farms and ranches where inherent farm hazards such as machinery and equipment\, livestock\, and agriculture chemicals are displaced and co-mingle\, putting all emergency response personnel\, farm workers and family members in danger. Floods can heighten the risk of health threats such as mold\, tetanus bacteria\, contaminated well water\, heat illness and high stress. This presentation will highlight basic precautions to prevent possible diseases and injuries during and after flooding. \nBy the end of this presentation\, attendees will be able to: \n\nIdentify common human health risks faced during a farm flood.\nDiscuss prevention tips and injury prevention for common human health risks.\nIdentify AgriSafe and external resources to address human health risks during a farm flood.\n\nLast updated on February 27th\, 2024 at 06:22 pm \n\nRegistration Instructions: \n\n\n\nIf you don’t already have a profile with AgriSafe\, please set up a free account.
