Vanessa Galvan is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) with 20 years of experience in industries including agriculture, food manufacturing, warehousing, construction, refrigeration, and port operations. She has developed and implemented safety culture initiatives at an international level, focusing specifically in areas of North and Latin America. The successful implementation of these initiatives resulted in impressive safety performance levels for various sites. Vanessa believes that simplifying the information in a way that resonates with populations at any level of the organization is the key to a successful safety program. A focus of her career has been to measure and analyze employee’s safe behavior and engagement. Safety culture transformation projects she has lead have resulted in innovative solutions to reducing the probability of risk as well as the severity of workplace injuries and illnesses.
Vanessa is currently the Corporate Agriculture Program Safety & Health Manager for Zenith Insurance Company, a Workers Compensation carrier with leading expertise in Agriculture. Her primary role is to help advance the profitability of Ag-sector companies though S&H solutions. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a B.A. in International Relations and a B.S. in Economics. Prior to joining Zenith, Vanessa worked as Director of Human Resources for Bonipak /Betteravia Farms. Safety Director for Rancho Harvest, and Regional Safety & Security Manager for Chiquita Brands International. She currently volunteers as ASSP co-chair of the Hispanic Professionals (HSP) Interest Group representing the Bakersfield Chapter and as ASSP HSP Interest Group Chapter Liaison Chair where she guides other regional ASSP leaders in the successful implementation of HSP Interest Group Local Chapters.
