SUMMARY:Farm and Ranch Health Threats After a Flood
DESCRIPTION:Summary: Disaster recovery can be as dangerous as the disaster itself\, especially if no disaster preparedness plan was implemented. This is especially true on farms and ranches where inherent farm hazards such as machinery and equipment\, livestock\, and agriculture chemicals are displaced and co-mingle\, putting all emergency response personnel\, farm workers and family members in danger. Floods can heighten the risk of health threats such as mold\, tetanus bacteria\, contaminated well water\, heat illness and high stress. This presentation will highlight basic precautions to prevent possible diseases and injuries during and after flooding. \nObjectives: At the end of the presentation\, attendees will be able to: \n\nIdentify common human health risks faced during a farm flood.\nDiscuss prevention tips and injury prevention for common human health risks.\nIdentify special considerations for working with livestock during a weather event.\nDiscuss steps involved in developing a disaster preparedness plan and how to safety active a response.\nDiscuss appropriate respiratory personal protective equipment needed during flood recovery.\nIdentify warning signs for behavioral and mental health during and after recovery.\n\nIntended Audience: All individuals living/working on farms and ranches affected by flooding. \n  \n\n\nRegistration Instructions: \n\n\n\nIf you don’t already have a profile with AgriSafe\, please set up a free account. This free account allows you access to our many training opportunities. Once you have signed up\, you can watch this webinar on-demand. \n\n\n  \n Watch this webinar on-demand.

SUMMARY:Veteran Farmers: Reducing Noise Exposure & Protecting Your Health
DESCRIPTION:Ag producers experience frequent exposure to high noise and have among the highest prevalence rates of hearing loss among all categories of workers. Additionally\, noise exposure impacts multiple organ systems\, contributing to cardiovascular disease\, hypertension\, obesity\, and other highly prevalent diseases. Although the effects of noise can be mitigated through use of hearing protection and other strategies\, these methods are highly underused in this worker group. In this Webinar designed for agricultural producers who are military veterans\, learners will learn how to identify hazardous noise sources\, strategies to reduce exposure to hazardous noise; and select and use of strategies to protect themselves from the negative effects of noise on their hearing and general health. \nIntended Audience: Military Veterans engaged in agricultural production \nObjectives:\nUpon completion of this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nIdentify harmful noise sources which have the potential to cause hearing damage and other health effects\nIdentify strategies to reduce exposure to hazardous noise\nDescribe appropriate selection and use of personal protective equipment\n\n\n\nRegistration Instructions: \n\n\n\nIf you don’t already have a profile with AgriSafe\, please set up a free account. SUMMARY:Planting the Seeds of Tractor and Machinery Safety
DESCRIPTION:Intended Audience: Safety professionals\, educators\, students\, Ag workers\, Ag business employees and health care workers. \nTractors and machinery have traditionally been a leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries on and around farms and ranches. The Planting the Seeds of Tractor and Machinery Safety webinar will cover the basic hazards associated with agricultural tractors and machinery and how to prevent injuries from these hazards. \nLearning objectives\n1. Participants will understand the hazards associated agricultural tractors and machinery.\n2. Participants will learn ways to reduce the hazards associated agricultural tractors and machinery.\n3. Participants will learn where to find resources for teaching and training on the topic of tractor and machinery safety. \n  \n\n\nRegistration Instructions: \n\n\n\nIf you don’t already have a profile with AgriSafe\, please set up a free account. SUMMARY:Respiratory Protection Issues in Agriculture - What to Wear & Does It Fit?
DESCRIPTION:The business of agriculture presents a myriad of hazards\, including exposures to dusts\, molds\, pesticides and other chemicals\, gases\, as well as welding fumes and particles. Deciding what protection to use to prevent acute and chronic respiratory diseases is confusing. In addition\, just finding the right protective gear can be a challenge. This webinar will address those issues and provide information on the importance of fit testing and fit (seal)checks. \nIntended Audience: agricultural production workers\, including female workers\, and agricultural business managers \nAt the end of this webinar participants will be able to: \n1. Identify appropriate respiratory protection equipment for work in agriculture\n2. Understand the difference between a respirator fit test and a fit check (seal check) procedure.\n3. Determine who should be fit tested for respiratory personal protective equipment (PPE)\n4. Know who can perform a fit test and what tools are necessary for a fit test procedure\n5. Locate current reliable resources that provide information on respiratory PPE \n  \n\n\nRegistration Instructions: \n\n\n\nIf you don’t already have a profile with AgriSafe\, please set up a free account.
